Prior to founding Concrete Safaris, Sharon Levine, known as Ms. Mac, volunteered her time over 12 years with youth via nonprofit organizations, such as Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida and Free Arts NYC. She is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and is a certified Wilderness First Responder, Exercise & Lifestyle Coach, Master Composter, and Leave No Trace Trainer. Mac is an avid writer with fitness articles, adventure essays, and photos published in magazines, such as Billboard and Bust. She has been featured in Allure, Jane, The New York Times, ReadyMade, SELF, Shape, and USA Today. She has also appeared as a panelist on SundanceChannel.com and as a guest speaker at Stern School of Business’ Social Enterprise Association at NYU and YouthBridge-NY’s Leaders-to-Leaders Youth Summit. Mac graduated cum laude from Northeastern University. Presently, she is a Masters candidate at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. When she’s not gardening, hiking, and service-learning with CS Explorers, Mac can be found hiking with her dog, Zeppy, skating or cycling city streets and greenways, paddling, and drinking lots of water.
